The University Center is the Irvine Company owned neighborhood center in the University Town Center village of Irvine, immediately adjacent to UCI. It is often frequented by students of UCI and University High School as well as other nearby residents and tenants of the University Office Tower. In addition to the various eateries, businesses and offices, a Farmer's Market is present every Saturday in the parking lot from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

Parking locations can roughly be divided into unequal thirds, with the most ample being the lot along Bridge Road, the exception being Saturday. The middle section furthest away from UCI is restricted to tenants of the University Office Tower and permits are required. Opposite of this towards Stanford and Campus Drive is the poorest parking in both space and turn over with the presence of the Edwards Theater. Parking is strictly enforced for would be UCI students opting to defer a parking permit with UCI Parking. Several parking attendants are hired specifically to monitor and follow those with backpacks crossing Watson Bridge to Campus. Warnings are initially issued but license plate numbers are taken and repeat offenders are eventually towed. Rare public street parking exists along Stanford however you must move your car within three days. It is generally crowded and heavily exploited by residents of the UTC.

Miscellaneous issues related to the University Center include the no left turn sign on to Bridge Road, the four way stop of Bridge and Stanford. A UCI Police motorcycle officer can usually be found ticketing those making a left hand turn out of the University Center and/or drivers making a California Stop or cutting off pedestrians. Additionally the entrances and exits to Campus Drive can be congested and the traffic can make it somewhat difficult to negotiate for those walking through the parking lot.
